“Sparkling wit and ironic references all through the play, not only make it hugely funny, but also leaves lingering questions that polite people will not bring up…Can we get on with life, unfettered by race, language, religion and culture?” — The Business Times

“It makes for much hilarity and introspection. Love, they show the audience, transcends creeds, curbs and complexions…Director Timothy Nga gives Sharma's lines fluidity, intensity and urgency.” — Cheong Suk-Wai, The Straits Times
“Although it runs the risk of being dated being set in the 90s, Timothy Nga does a remarkable job of teasing out the play’s messages still relevant today, and makes for a relatable, enjoyable piece that continues to show why The Necessary Stage remains necessary thirty years on.” — Bakchormeeboy
“Tim Nga’s restaging of this play is one that accomplishes many things at once: delivering excellent performances and wonderful moments without losing the witty and seamless interrogation of Singaporean issues that has become synonymous with Sharma’s work.” — Casidhe Ng, Centre42
